The pitch
Video Game Arena is a free website where users vote head-to-head between two video game covers to pick a winner. Votes feed a global leaderboard and build a personal tier list, covering over 1425 games across genres, platforms, and eras. The website includes a 20 question daily challenge, 20 question multiplayer game with up to 20 friends, and a bracket challenge each month. If users sign in they gain access to their own personal ranking system, and personal bracket maker.
What sets it apart
Unlike star ratings or drag-and-drop tier makers, it uses simple head-to-head voting with Elo scoring, a live shared global leaderboard, franchise-specific battle animations, and no account or payment required.

Clear concept and a tangible daily gaming challenge, with enough social and ranking mechanics to encourage repeat visits. It feels focused, though differentiation and long-term retention could be stronger.

I clicked through and immediately voted on like six covers before realizing I hadn't read anything on the page, which is a good sign. The hook works. Daily challenge plus monthly brackets means there's an actual reason to return, which is more than most side projects manage. My worry is money. Gamers don't pay for this kind of thing and ads on a niche site won't do much, so at some point you need a plan. I'd also think about whether using publisher cover art at this scale becomes a problem later. The play-with-friends mode feels like the real growth lever and it's buried.
